What is EFNEP

EFNEP is the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.  EFNEP will celebrate its 50th year of helping people from Oct. 2018 to Sep. 2019!
EFNEP helps limited-resource families obtain the knowledge, skills, attitudes and changed behavior needed to:
  • Eat better for less,
  • Save money when they shop for food,
  • Keep foods safe,
  • Get more active on a budget, and
  • Better cook and plan meals.
EFNEP classes are offered free of charge.
 
At the national level, EFNEP is part of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) at United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and funded through the Farm Bill. EFNEP is always run out of 1862 and 1890 Land Grant Universities all 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories, like Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
